Luna Diner

App and Responsive Website Design

ROLE: UX designer – from concept to completion.

Luna Diner is a family-owned restaurant that specializes in healthy homestyle cooked meals. They target working adults and parents with a busy schedule that prevents them from preparing their own meals. Luna Diner prepares dishes for dine-in, take-out and delivery.

Overview

CHALLENGE: Working adults and parents lack the time to prepare a homestyle cooked meal.

GOAL: Design an app and website for Luna Diner that allows users to easily order meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

WIREFRAMES: Luna Diner has a large selection of items to choose from. Research revealed this can easily become overwhelming. The hierarchy needed to be clear and intuitive.

Initial Design

Healthy items needed to be prominent on home page.

Items in cart display image, name of meal and price.

Responsive Website

After creating the sitemap, wireframes were created showing a variation in screen sizes including mobile, tablet and desktop. Two rounds of usability studies were conducted. The first study was conducted on a low-fidelity prototype and helped guide the designs from wireframe to mockups.

Site Map

My goal was to create a sitemap with clear information architecture that would improve the navigation.

Conculsion

The Luna Diner app and responsive website provides users a source where healthy homestyle meals are available with easy ordering and delivery capabilities. While the mobile app was specifically designed for the user on-the-go, the responsive website can do it all as well, for those who prefer using other devices .
